Digital Molds
3D scanning enables sculptors to document their work digitally and store the data for future reproductions, much like a physical mold. A digital mold, which is basically a digital model, serves as thorough dimensionally accurate "digital backup" of a sculpture or object. When needed, the digital files can be used to manufacture replicas or patterns at the desired scale and material.
